Sharing Knowledge: The Role of Traditional Markets in Calculating Inflation

Horizone Sharing Knowledge (HSK) is an activity to share knowledge with BPS staff that aims to improve the performance of BPS staff. In this month's edition, Horizone Sharing Knowledge, which was held on Friday, July 19, 2019, discussed the causes of inflation that occurred in Malang Municipality recently. The dominant factor that occurs is the diminishing interest of the people of Malang Municipality to shop in traditional markets. The people of Malang Municipality are more interested in shopping in modern markets. A stable price and a comfortable place are the reasons why the people of Malang Municipality prefer the modern market as a shopping destination. Even though traditional markets are guardians of economic stability in the poor city. Therefore, people are expected to keep shopping in traditional markets so that the economy of Malang Municipality remains stable so that the inflation rate can be controlled.
